McHenry Community College (MCC) shortstop Nick Vasic has committed to play for Southern Illinois next fall, Scots Head Coach Jared Wacker recently said on his Twitter page.
Last season, Vasic batted .394 with 41 RBIs, 56 runs scored and 31 stolen bases – while being caught stealing twice – in 53 games, according to njcaa.org. He also had a .490 on-base percentage and .477 slugging percentage.
Also, according to Wacker's Twitter page, MCC sophomore Justin Blasinski has committed to Illinois-Springfield, an NCAA Division II program, for next fall.
Blasinski batted .369 with three home runs, 40 RBIs and 32 runs scored in 45 games last season, to go with a .462 on-base percentage and a .554 slugging percentage.
Both players were key contributors to last year's MCC team that had a 50-12 record and won the Region IV title en route to playing in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Baseball Championship.
