Karen Lukasik, the Republican candidate for the Algonquin Township Clerk position, took to social media to thank attendees of a meet and greet last week.

"I've had an opportunity to hear people's concerns from our meet and greet last night," Lukasik posted. "What a great turn out!! Thanks to all that took time out to meet and chat about the future of Algonquin Township offices. There are more to come I will be posting soon. Thank you again for all that were able to attend."

The meet and greet on Jan. 19 gave Algonquin Township residents an opportunity to meet with Lukasik and other Township candidates. The event was held at the Goal Line Sports Bar & Grill in Crystal Lake.

Lukasik will face Melissa Sanchez-Fisher in the Republican primary on Feb. 28. They are vying for the position vacated by Charles Lutzow Jr., who is leaving the clerk position and running for the supervisor's seat.

Lukasik brings her experience as a village of Cary trustee from 2011-15 to the position. With a master's degree in public administration and course work toward an organizational leadership doctorate, Lukasik says she has prepared herself for public service.
