Huntley ranked 700th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Huntley had the 700th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- down 55 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Huntley was $16.53 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McHenry Times, Huntley generated $429,914.50 in net sales from its nine lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $291,588 in January 2015.

The Village of Huntley is in Kane County, and has a population of 26,005, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Lake in the Hills, Pingree Grove, Hampshire, Algonquin and Gilberts.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $40,797.99.

Huntley's top lottery retailer is Drendels Corner located at 13300 IL-47, Huntley, IL 60142.

Drendels Corner generated 38 percent of Huntley's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of Kane County's sales that month, which was $5,507,729.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kane County in 2015 were West Dundee, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin and Algonquin.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
