McHenry pitcher has a dozen reasons for earning honor

Baseball serie 1 1555536 640x425

Peyton Schneider doesn't have a 'K' in his name, but he has plenty in his arm.

The McHenry County College pitcher was recently named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Pitcher of the Week, the NJCAA tweeted on April 26. The honor comes after a 12-strikeout performance on April 18.

Schneider, a sophomore from Harvard, beat Moraine Valley in Crystal Lake when he threw seven innings, recorded the dozen strikeouts and allowed only two hits and one walk. Schneider earned the victory in the Scots' 15-0 win.

Schneider's honor-earning performance was part of a run of strong showings by him. Over the course of three starts from April 12 to 25 — in which he got the win in each contest — he threw 19 innings, allowing a total of two earned runs, nine hits and two walks, and notched 23 strikeouts. MCC won those three starts by a combined score of 34-2, with Schneider recording a 0.94 earned-run average.
