City of Harvard Park Board met Feb. 9.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Chairman Jay Schulz called the meeting to order and called roll at 6:00 pm. Committee members
present: Chairman Jay Schulz, Alderwoman Tammy Herrera and Aldermen Korey Coffer and Kevin Williams, Jonathan and Emily Sara and Joel Kriete. Also present were Mayor Kelly and Supt. Parks & Rec Ryan Knop.
Supt. Knop led the Park Board on a tour of the swimming pool facility.
Citizen Comment
None
Parks Agreement
Chairman Schulz has not received any feedback from the volunteer organizations and would like to give them an opportunity to provide input before moving forward. He will notify the various organizations that the agreement will be on the next Park Board agenda for final consideration.
Budget
Supt. Knop reviewed the budget items approved at the Finance Committee Meeting for the next fiscal year.
Referendum
Chairman Schulz updated the Park Board on the most recent referendum committee meeting. Handout pamphlets, posters and banners will be displayed throughout the community. Chairman Schulz indicated he would like to meet with the various local sports organizations over the next month to help get the word out about the referendum. The next referendum meeting is Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Supt. Knop’s Report
Supt. Knop reviewed his report and updated the Park Board on activities and programs he is working on.
NEW BUSINESS
Concession Stand Agreement
Supt. Knop reviewed the draft Concession Stand Lease Agreement. Chairman Schulz will notify the various organizations that the agreement will be on the next Park Board agenda for final consideration.
Swimming Pool/Fees
Supt. Knop reviewed the proposed pool fee schedule, pool hours and pool parties.
Individual pool passes will be sold across the board; family pool passes will be eliminated.
Pool Hours: Mon - Thurs from noon - 7 pm; Friday from noon - 8 pm and Saturday from 1-9 pm.
A 3-lane adult lap swim will be available during swimming lessons.
Pool parties can be scheduled during normal business hours at a cost of $75 hour/minimum 2 hours for 40 people; after hour pool parties available at a different rate.
Supt. Knop is working on special events sponsored by the Park Board to be held at the pool.
At 7:30 pm, a motion was made by Alderman Koffer, seconded by Jonathan Sara to adjourn the meeting.
All ayes. Motion carried.
