Senate backs McConnaughay bill for no-glare vehicle back-up lights

Safer roadways are important to Sen. Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles), who introduced SB2511 to Senate floor debate April 17.

Thre bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code and provides that a vehicle's back-up lamp not produce glare.

The bill's text says, “any motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than one running board courtesy lamp on each side thereof which shall emit a white or amber light without glare. ... Any motor vehicle may be equipped with one or more back-up lamps either separately or in combination with other lamps which shall emit a white or amber light without glare.”

With no opposition or questions, SB2511 passed in the Senate on a 54-0 vote and was moved to the House.
