Village of Mc Cullom Lake Board of Trustees met April 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Shepit called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

Roll Call: By the Village Clerk, Sherri L. Messina

Present: President Shepit, Attorney Shaw, Trustees Bogacz, Fritz, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter. Trustee Given in at 7:10

Minutes: Trustee Matthesius made a motion to approve the minutes with minor corrections; seconded by Trustee Fritz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Bills: Trustee Bogacz made a motion to pay the bills; seconded by Trustee Matthesius. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Police: Monthly Police Report was given to everyone. President Shepit read it out loud and stated that there have been a couple of break-ins during the day though nothing was stolen and no arrests made. Our Police Department is currently following up on several leads. Our Officer’s were trained in how to respond to an active shooter situation that was held by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. A fraud case with a local business has been closed and items of over $56000.00 have been returned. Though no arrests were made our Police Department is exploring several leads. The new squad was placed into service. There was a traffic stop made and two (2) subjects were arrested for possession of cannabis. During the investigation Officers learned of a house dealing cannabis in town and after further investigation and search of the home the drug dealer was arrested and charged with delivery and attempt to deliver of cannabis.

Communications: Trustee Bogacz brought up that the next MCCOG meeting is at Crandall’s in Hebron on April 25, 2018. It is one of the MCCOG meetings that the Village board attends. List of those attending will be given to the office. President Shepit brought up the drainage issue on Fountain. Engineer Cuda did go out and look at it but it was frozen and he will come back out and re-visit it when it’s thawed out. President Shepit has a drawing to show that there is some sort of pit that is in there with a pump.

Audience: One of our residents had heard about the break-in’s and thought that he had heard someone out on his deck the other evening which made him a little uneasy. He did go outside to look but did not see anything. Ladies from the Garden Club presented their Proposed Plant Purchase for the Landscape Improvements of the Village Hall entrance and the Veteran’s Memorial Rock. Total cost came to $400.69 and $200.00 of that cost was donated by Mr. Drieske. Trustee Bogacz made a motion for the expenditure; seconded by Trustee Fritz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Old Business: Approve Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement – Attorney Shaw is going to combine the FOIA for Cell Phone Records policy in this agreement. Trustee Walter made a motion to table this until the next board meeting; seconded by Trustee Mazurek. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

New Business: Village Sticker Ordinance for Fleet Vehicles. Trustee Matthesius made a motion to approve Ordinance #498 – An Ordinance Amending Ordinance #450 of The Village of McCullom Lake. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Approve Phase 4-D Drainage Project – Five (5) bids were received, opened and verified by Engineer Cuda and it is his recommendation to go with the lowest bidder who is Vian Construction Company Inc. of Elk Grove Village in the amount of $77067.00. The bid came in below our final engineers’ estimate of cost and below the CDBG grant amount of $80300.00. Trustee Bogacz made a motion to award the bid to Vian Construction Company Inc for Phase 4-D Drainage Project; seconded by Trustee Walter. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter-ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Swearing in of Linda Durbin as Deputy Clerk – Trustee Bogacz made a motion to table this until the next board meeting; seconded by Trustee Fritz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Discussion: Trustee Matthesius printed out an application for grant money so that the front doors to the Village Hall can be handicap accessible. We need at least three (3) estimates and the estimates must include prevailing wage. Right now we have one (1) estimate that Trustee Fritz received from Elite Door Company. The grant needs to be sent in before May 1, 2018.

The annual Steak Fry will be held on May 5th and there are tickets available.

Trustee Matthesius made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 p.m.; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.
