Village of McCullom Lake Board met May 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Roll Call: By the Village Clerk, Sherri L. Messina

Present: President Shepit, Trustees Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter.

Minutes: Trustee Matthesius made a motion to approve the minutes; seconded by Trustee Given. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Bills: Trustee Bogacz made a motion to pay the bills; seconded by Trustee Mazurek. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Parks: Trustee Given is planning to start on the Community Garden on Monday, May 14th. No dirt has been delivered yet, but it should be here by Thursday of this week. President Shepit let Trustee Given know that there will be pins put down for the baseball field soon.

Roads: Trustee Walter stated that landscaping should be starting Thursday or Friday of this week for the Phase 4D drainage project. He also mentioned that he could get a large tub for the Community Garden it can be used to hold water and also catch rain water. Trustee Matthesius made a comment that she could talk to her brother about possibly installing a hand pump for the garden.

Police: Officer Hernandez mentioned that there are a couple of offers for the police squads that have been taken out of commission.

Communications: President Shepit received a letter from McHenry Township Fire Protection District. It reads as follows: To support growth and to illustrate cooperation with the local communities the McHenry Township Fire Protection District has signed an Ordinance renewing the moratorium on Plan Review/Impact Fees on new construction within the Fire District and it will be extended through April 30, 2019 at which time the MTFPD Board of Trustees will re-evaluate the Ordinance.

Audience: Cindy’s Outreach Youth Group for the last four (4) months have been working with our local high school and getting other teens to be pro-active and be aware of what constitutes sexual assault. There will be officials coming in to the schools as well to have teachers certified on sexual assault awareness. The local high school has invited Cindy’s group to come in and talk to the students.

New Business: Swearing in of Police Officers. Village Clerk Messina swore in Officer Pam Mason and Officer James Ryan.

Discussion: All board members were given an aerial view of the Hickory Lodge where the Lodge would like to set up a Bags area in their lot. President Shepit talked this over with Attorney Shaw and he stated that they could do it as long as it was in our Ordinance. There will be a gate added and it will be locked at night. All board members are ok with the plan as long as they are respectful of their neighbors and board members also agreed that it needs to be in our Ordinance per our Village Attorney.

The Annual Steak Fry was a phenomenal success and everyone had a great time. There were neighbors who stayed and helped clean up afterwards which was very much appreciated.

Trustee Matthesius stated that there was an article in the IML on PoliceCommunity Relations and Services and she gave her copy to our Police department.

Trustee Matthesius also mentioned that there is a hole in the parking lot but is not sure how deep it is and feels that it should be addressed before it gets any bigger. President Shepit will go out with her after the meeting and look at it. Plants were bought by the Garden Club and our portion of the bill was $198.10. Neighbors Helping Neighbors are donating funds for some mulch and stone.

Trustee Bogacz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:21 P.M.; seconded by Trustee Walter. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

The next board meeting will be May 22, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Village Hall.
