McHENRY COUNTY: McHenry County Unveils New, User-Friendly Construction Website

Website

McHenry County issued the following announcement on June 19.

With summer construction season here in full force, the McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) has revamped its construction website to make it easier for drivers to be in the know.

Its Current and Upcoming Construction website includes an interactive map that allows users to view ongoing and impending road and bridge projects under the DOT’s purview. It includes not only major construction projects, but also routine maintenance such as crack sealing and resurfacing. Information on each project, such as its duration and completion status, its total cost and the contractor performing the work, are available with a click of a mouse, as are ways to receive updates on the project.

“Construction season is very important for us to make sure we deliver on our continued commitment to address maintenance, congestion and safety for travelers in McHenry County,” Director of Transportation/County Engineer Joseph Korpalski said.

The new and improved website also includes links to particular major projects, such as the widening of Randall Road which includes the improvement of the intersection of Randall and Algonquin roads, and the roundabout under construction at River and Dowell roads near Island Lake. Another tab takes visitors to a list of McHenry County projects ongoing or planned by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and a link to their construction map.

Also, the county website includes a copy of MCDOT’s recently updated Construction Survival Guide to help local businesses affected by summer construction projects to survive and thrive.

“Ensuring that McHenry County has a top-notch road network is one of the most significant ways we have to attract employers and good-paying jobs. Driving during summer construction season can be a hassle in Illinois, but the McHenry County Division of Transportation has made it easier and more convenient for drivers to see where the construction is and to plan accordingly,” County Board Chairman Jack Franks, D-Marengo, said.

To visit the website, go to www.mchenrycountydot.org, and click “Current and Upcoming Construction” on the left-side tab. For construction updates in real time, visit and like the Division of Transportation Facebook page at www.facebook.com/McHenryCountyDOT.
