Algonquin-Lake In The Hill FPD responds to 77 fires in 2017

Algonquin-Lake In The Hill Fire Protection District responded to 660 calls in 2017 - 3.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Algonquin-Lake In The Hill included 77 fires - 49 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 22 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $614,714 in fire loss - or about $7,983 per fire.

The department also received 581 false calls, including two malicious calls and 579 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, two fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Algonquin-Lake In The Hill Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $12,060,329 in 2017.
