McHenry County issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.
McHenry County Animal Control and Adoption Center (MCAC) will participate in the fourth annual “Clear the Shelters” Day on Saturday, August 18 by waiving the adoption fee for all adoptable cats and dogs over six months of age and discounting the adoption fee for kittens younger than six months. Hours for the event are from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
MCAC joins hundreds of shelters across the Nation and Puerto Rico as part of this one-day adoption drive. “We are proud to be part of this nationwide initiative. Adopted pets go to new owners spayed or neutered, micro chipped, and vaccinated with age appropriate vaccines, including the rabies shot. We ask adopters to make a donation of their choice.” said Maryellen Howell, Manager of McHenry County Animal Control & Adoption Center.
Since the first year of this event, “Clear the Shelters Day” has led to over 153,000 pets going home with new families. The MCAC goal this year for “Clear the Shelters Day” is to “clear the shelter” and find homes for all of the adoptable animals at the Center. MCAC hopes you will help them clear their shelter again this year!
