Elgin State House candidate Richard Johnson received another $105,937 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.

The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Johnson for Illinois, the campaign committee that supports Johnson’s race against Republican Dan Ugaste in the 65th district.

The district covers all or part of Huntly, Elgin, South Elgin, St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia.

Madigan’s contributions to Johnson came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $238,933 to the candidate’s campaign.

From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
