Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
The Woodstock Square comes alive at the holidays with traditions that draw visitors, families and community members year after year. Favorite events, all free to the public, include horse-drawn carriage rides; Dickens Carolers; the Christmas Tree Walk at the Woodstock Opera House; and, expanded Lighting of the Square activities the day after Thanksgiving.
In addition, creativity shines in a new annual tradition that now draws hundreds of viewers to the Old Courthouse to see the wide variety of cuisine creations known as the Gingerbread House Walk. There is no fee to participate, and families, organizations and businesses are encouraged to submit their designs, producing edible gingerbread structures and decorations, in any theme desired. Ribbons are offered in the categories of Children (10 & under), Family, Civic Group, and Business, and will be announced at Lighting of the Square on Friday, November 23.
Entry forms with detailed instructions are available on the group’s website at www.friendsoftheoldcourthouse.org. Entries must be submitted at the Old Courthouse on Saturday or Sunday, November 17 or 18, 2018, from noon – 3:00pm. The Houses will be available for viewing, at no charge, beginning at 4:00pm on Friday, November 23. The display will continue through December 25, during open hours for the Old Courthouse Arts Center, Thursday – Saturday, 11:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday 12 – 5:00pm.
