Crystal Lake Fire Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
On October 29, 2018 at 4:04 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a structure fire. Crystal Lake Park District Police advised that fire inside and outside of the structure. Crystal Lake Police also reported a possible victim in the home. The first arriving units noted smoke and police removing a victim from the front door. Fire crews started an aggressive attack on the fire while an ambulance crew started treatment. The patient was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital where the patient was succumbed to his injuries.
The fire was quickly extinguished with extensive damage noted. The cause of the fire is in under investigation by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue, Crystal Lake Police, and Office of the State Fire Marshal. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters. The estimated damage is approximately $80,000.
