HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: Naymola Named Volleyball Coach of the Year, Several Players on All-Area Team

V

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

Huntley High School girls volleyball coach Karen Naymola has been named 2018 Volleyball Coach of the Year by the Northwest Herald. In addition, several players were named to the publication’s All-Area Team.

Junior Taylor Jakubowski, senior Loren Alberts, senior Julia Johnson, and senior Sarah Zayas each made the First Team. Sophomore Emma Konie was named to the Second Team.

The newspaper conducted a Q&A with Naymola in which she shared some of her favorite memories from the past season. The Red Raiders finished 35-4, including 22 consecutive wins, took second in the Fox Valley Conference, and captured their third consecutive regional championship.

“I’m going to miss them as athletes. Those seniors were such solid athletes and really did everything you asked of them,” Naymola told the paper. “They set the tone and raised the bar for Huntley volleyball, so I should be thanking them.”
