CITY OF CRYSTAL LAKE: 60-Unit Senior Housing Apartments Coming Soon

Housing(1000)

City of Crystal Lake issued the following announcement on Dec. 19.

DKI, a development company out of Chicago, has received approval for a new affordable senior housing project at 355 Station Drive. The developer will construct a new 60-unit apartment building in Crystal Lake. The facility is carefully designed to provide a comfortable living experience with high-end trim carpentry including crown molding, vaulted ceilings, chandeliers and artwork.

The residents will also have access to a theater room, community area, café, library, game room, fitness room and individual storage areas. The apartment units are a mixture of one and two-bedroom units all with their own kitchens.

Centered in the City’s Business Park allows the residents easy access to medical, retail and service uses. The architecture will blend well with the business park area, but still represent a very residential feel. The exterior façade is a combination of stone and fiber cement board.

The roof uses both architectural shingles and a metal standing seam roof to highlight the tower elements. The project qualified for Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) tax credits. Construction is planned to commence in early spring.
