Village of Mc Cullom Lake Board met Nov. 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Shepit called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call: By the Village Clerk, Sherri L. Messina

Present: President Shepit, Attorney Shaw, Trustees Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter.

Minutes: Trustee Matthesius made a motion to approve the minutes with slight corrections; seconded by Trustee Walter. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Bills: Trustee Matthesius made a motion to pay the bills; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Attorney: It was mentioned that the sign for Shogren’s was taken down and there have been some vintage cars moved around in there and trucks parked outside. Attorney Shaw will reach out to Scott Shogren and see if there is anything going on with the building or if they are just using it for storage.

Roads: Trustee Walter brought up that the roads were looking good after the snow storm. Township did a great job. President Shepit brought up that she is also working with Township on some of our manholes that have sunk and how they can be fixed.

Audience: Our new Building Inspector Dan Streit was in the audience and introduced himself to board and asked if anyone had any questions for him. He has some suggestions for the beginning of next year to go over some items that really don’t need permits. Trustee Fritz will work with him on these and whatever they come up with Trustee Fritz can then present it to the board. Inspector Streit also has a plumber helping out until we find a new one since Plumbing Inspector Mike Laux has moved out of State.

Glenn Gates inquired about the Crown Vic. President Shepit replied that she thinks Chief Beatty has someone interested in it but she will talk to him. Bill who lives up the hill in the Village said Township did a great job plowing and salting by his residence.

New Business: Village Hall Rental Agreement - Trustee Matthesius made a motion to table this until the next board meeting to add an age limit where you must be 21 years of age to rent the hall; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Action to keep Executive Session meeting minutes closed to the Public – Trustee Matthesius made a motion to keep the Executive Session minutes closed to the public; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Destruction of Verbatim recording of Executive Session minutes 18 months and older that there are approved minutes for – Trustee Walter made a motion for the Destruction of Verbatim recoding or Executive Session minutes 18 months and older; seconded by Trustee Mazurek. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Ordinance Amending Prevailing Wage Rates – Trustee Fritz made a motion to approve Ordinance #508 An Ordinance Amending Prevailing Wage Rates; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.

Annual Tax Levy – Attorney Shaw stated that the board make a motion to approve the proposed Levy amount of $59000.00 for the next fiscal year. Trustee Bogacz made a motion for the proposed Levy amount of $59000.00; seconded by Trustee Walter. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried. The approval of the Annual Tax Levy will be added to the next meeting’s agenda.

Discussion: Raises – Trustee Matthesius doesn’t think we should do this every year. Trustee Bogacz stated that there is just not enough revenue coming in to support it. It was discussed previously that future raises should be based on merit. It was also suggested maybe having two personnel policies, one for the Police department and one for the office staff mainly because of holidays. Trustee Matthesius and Trustee Bogacz would like to see where everyone is at for wages.

Trustee Matthesius brought up the tree that is dead and if there was any update. President Shepit replied, not yet.

Trustee Fritz stated that he will be picking up the trolley and bringing it to the Village Hall for decorating this Sunday. Carolers will be out on Saturday December 8th. The annual Christmas Party will be December 9th at the Village Hall from 12:00 to 4:00 P.M.

Officer Durbin is asking to use the Village Hall for a book signing for his new book The Flying Saucer Mystery on December 19th if the hall is available.

There is an E-blast going out for Caroling and the Christmas Party. Neighbors Helping Neighbors will be decorating the Village Hall on Friday December 7th.

Trustee Bogacz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 P.M.; seconded by Trustee Fritz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.
