CITY OF CRYSTAL LAKE: NEW Art Classes for Kids are featured in Crystal Lake Park District Winter/Spring Brochure

City of Crystal Lake issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.

NEW art classes for kids ages 2-12 are exciting additions to the Crystal Lake Park District Winter/Spring program schedule. Register online at www.crystallakeparks.org or in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake. Create With Me Art Class

Ages 2-5

This Child/Adult class is highly recommended as a first art class for Pre-K children. Explore and create together as your child develops

sensory as well as motor skills. They will learn about color, texture and more while experimenting with a variety of art materials

and techniques. Adult attendance required.

Make a Messterpiece

Ages 5-7

Lets get messy! Your child will get to create their own messterpieces using a range of medias, art materials and techniques in this

fun and engaging environment alongside a certified elementary art educator. Art classes help develop skills important for

school success such as fine motor skills, creative expression, critical thinking and the ability to listen and follow directions all while

having fun. Don't worry, we will wash hands before they get in your car!

Kids/Teen Paint Art Attack

It's never too early to nuture the love of art! Simple to follow, stroke-by-stroke age appropriate directions make creating your

artwork easy. We supply the 11x14 canvas and acrylic paint. You bring friends, snack and beverage. Together we will explore your

We kick off 2019 with NEW drawing lessons like our detailed Great Wall of China art history and colorful Fish Below Ice lesson! It doesn’t matter if your child is new to drawing or a seasoned pro - everyone is going to have fun and learn a lot. Winter sessions are a chance for kids to learn drawings like the Patterned Football and Candy Land. Our content is based on child-friendly subjects that open the imagination and stretch the mind like our cartooning classes where kids are learning to draw a funny bird feeding sequence and silly forest animals! Young Rembrandts strives to inspire your child’s imaginative spirit and boosts classic learning skills.

Each class focuses upon developing skills, learning techniques and expanding self confidence.We will learn and practice several patterns on mini projects for the first 4 weeks. We will then use our new skills in the final two weeks to create a unique masterpiece with ink and watercolor. Doodlers develop artistic skills, craftsmanship and the power of self expression.

Sew Easy

Ages 10 & Up 1 Class

Who knew sewing could be so easy?! Learn basic sewing techniques as you get step by step instructions on how to create simple projects such as zipper pouches, pillows and tote bags. Only two sewing machines will be available for group use, so we recommend that you bring your own. Basic sewing machine skills are required. A supply list will be provided prior to the class.
