Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 25.
The District 155 Board of Education approved 22 major summer construction projects across the four high schools and the district office on Thursday, January 24. A majority of the 2019 capital improvements projects are necessary for the basic maintenance and upkeep of the district facilities. A handful of the projects are designed to improve learning environments. The total for the summer renovation work is $14,552,000. Renovations include tennis court replacement, air conditioning, intercom system, parking lot replacement, and kitchen classroom remodels at Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, and Prairie Ridge High Schools.
“With the approval of these projects, we will be able to provide enhanced learning facilities for our students and staff without increasing the 2018 operating tax levy,” said Jeremy Davis, assistant superintendent of finance and operations. “The feedback we received from students, staff, and parents during our strategic planning process this fall focused on the need to improve our facilities.”
Construction in the buildings will begin once students finish the school year. Tennis court work at Cary-Grove will start mid-May, but will not be disruptive to the students. District 155 will publish summer construction videos on its website and social media channels to inform taxpayers and the community of the progress of the projects.
