State Rep. Allen Skillicorn released the following press release on Feb. 14:
Former Senator Steve Rauschenberger stated, “A race like this one in the 14th needs a spirited and principled conservative reformer to step into the arena, not the typical status quo Republican. Skillicorn has never lost a race and has a solid track record of standing up against special interests and for taxpayers. He is the right fighter for the 14th!”
In his two terms, veteran Representative Allen Skillicorn has put forward reform legislation to balance the budget without tax hikes in his “Right Now Budget;” a constitutional hard cap on property taxes at 1%; solving the pension crisis with 401K-style retirement accounts for public employees; eliminating pensions for new members of the General Assembly; tying spending to the growth of the Illinois economy; and no taxes on retirement income.
Skillicorn stated, “I appreciate Senator Rauschenberger’s confidence in my ability to deliver reforms for the people of Illinois. It would be my honor to carry them forward to Washington D.C. as your Congressman in the 14th District.”
