Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on April 9.
Fifty-eight Huntley High School students have artwork on display alongside that of students from other Fox Valley Conference schools at the 2019 FVC Art Show, which is running through April 18 at McHenry County College.
Each school’s art teacher selected a wide range of both 2D and 3D artworks exploring drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed-media, photography, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, and and jewelry. Teachers looked for works of art with purposeful exploration of concepts, technical media application, imaginative expression, formal compositional qualities, as well as, the meaning and function of the art work.
The exhibition is on display in the lower wing of Building A at McHenry County College located at 8900 U.S. 14 in Crystal Lake and is hanging in the Epping Gallery, Student Gallery, and Artspace 144, just beyond the cafeteria. The following high schools are participating in this juried show: Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South, Dundee-Crown, Huntley, Harry D. Jacobs, McHenry East, McHenry West, Prairie Ridge, Hampshire High Schools.
The FVC Art Show Reception is slated for the evening of Friday, April 12, between the hours of 6:00–8:00 p.m., with awards being presented at 7:00 p.m. in the adjacent gymnasium. Three area artists were asked to judge the works in this year’s show, including MCC professors Tom Vician and Justin Schmitz.
