Park & Beach: There are fruits and vegetables growing right now in the community garden. The garage at Zender Park has been painted and soon there will be new garage doors that were donated.
Roads: Trustee Walter mentioned that because of all the rain there is gravel washed out on Maple Hill, West End, Hickory and Parkview some are pretty deep crevices. President Shepit will have Paul look at those areas. Trustee Walter also mentioned that since there is no power to the pole on West End that maybe we should think about getting rid of some of the trees.
Audience: Deputy Clerk Prehn brought up that we need new Stop signs that are 30 inches and high prismatic. Right now we need about 6 of them to start. The board asked if she could maybe see if it was cheaper to get them in bulk. Autism Signs – The Village will not be purchasing any of these signs. Attorney Shaw stated at the last meeting that it gives parents a false sense of hope having the signs up and though someone can be ticketed for speeding or not stopping at a stop sign there is nothing to enforce by not noticing an Autism sign and slowing down.
There is someone who is willing to dig the burm out up at Forest View where there was dirt mixed with concrete dumped there. The board was all in agreement to have that person go ahead and get rid of it.
Chief Beatty is asking that we raise the Tow fee for vehicles from $400.00 to $500.00 since we are the lowest amongst the surrounding communities. Clerk Messina stated that there would have to be an amendment change to our Ordinance and this would have to be added to the next meeting’s agenda for a vote. The Police department is also asking that we look into getting security cameras for the Village Hall. Deputy Clerk Prehn mentioned that Officer Beatty will be off for a couple of weeks and will be looking over some of our Ordinances and fee amounts that could possibly be changed and updated. He will compile a list for the board to look over. The Bid packet information is on our website and the ad has been set up for the Handicapped Accessible Door project which will be in the paper on July 24, 2019. Bids will be opened on August 9th, 2019 but no decision will be made until the bids are presented to the board.
Treasurer Brandt stated that Deputy Clerk Prehn came across a new resource to try and get funds for McCullom Lake Road. Engineer Cuda already has the paperwork.
Trustee Fritz ran into Representative Steve Reich at the Fiesta day’s parade and that Representative Reich mentioned that he was in favor of the gas tax which some of those funds would go for road improvements and that McCullom Lake Road was at the top of the list for possible funding.
New Business: Selling Surplus Gem Golf Carts – There was someone interested in buying both carts for $400.00. Attorney Shaw had suggested to President Shepit that she compare prices which she did and these carts go for way more than $400.00 for two of them. Trustee Fritz suggested that the lowest we should accept would be $1000.00 a piece for each one. Trustee Fritz made a motion to take nothing less than $1000.00 for each cart; seconded by Trustee Bogacz. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.
Trustee Bogacz made a motion to adjourn to go into Executive session at 7:24 P.M. for Personnel reasons; seconded by Trustee Given. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.
Roll Call by Village Clerk Messina back into regular session at 7:36 P.M. President Shepit, Trustees Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter.
Discussion: There is parking up on Greenwood where people are parking in the grass and blocking other neighbor’s driveways. There is also a landscaper that lives on that street and he has been taking yard waste from his job sites and dumping it into the field at the end of the road. Lori will have Paul check into that though since that field is not part of McCullom Lake we would not be able to issue any tickets for dumping.
Trustee Matthesius is speaking as a citizen and would like to encourage everyone to be in attendance at a special meeting at the Township Hall on Monday August 5th, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. to show support to try and get the bus service back that the Township board dissolved. There are people that relied on this bus service not only for socialization but doctor’s appointments etc. Any support by attending would be greatly appreciated. There will be a petition with signatures presented at the meeting to try and overturn what the Township board dissolved.
Trustee Fritz had a meeting with the new owners of the Cullom Knoll. They are planning on having meat raffles there and on Labor Day they will be having a Pig Roast for their Grand Opening. They are very much looking forward to working with the Village such as Pizza with a Cop. The next Neighbors Helping Neighbors meeting will be held at the Knoll in the back room on August 6th, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. Trustee Fritz stated that he hasn’t heard any complaints about the dinners and it was nice to see some old timers there.
Trustee Given stated that the Fire Department has been secured for the picnic. Trustee Given will get in touch with the Village of Wonder Lake on the ID cards that we are in need of.
President Shepit has not heard back from Onan about replacing the dead tree.
Trustee Bogacz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:51 P.M.; seconded by Trustee Mazurek. Voice vote: Bogacz, Fritz, Given, Matthesius, Mazurek, Walter=ayes. All in favor, motion carried.
The next board meeting will be August 13, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. at the Village Hall.
