VILLAGE OF HUNTLEY: Green & Clean Huntley

Village of Huntley issued the following announcement on Feb. 10.

Huntley residents can take advantage of the following Green & Clean programs on April 25 from 9 am to 12 pm:

  • Electronics Recycling* Municipal Complex (available from 9-noon OR until dumpsters are full) - Only residential electronics accepted. Due to space limitations only 1 TV or 1 computer monitor will be accepted per vehicle.
  • Paper & Document Destruction* Municipal Complex - Participants will receive a certificate of destruction for materials taken to be destroyed by AMS Store and Shred.
  • ColorCycle Marker Recycling* Municipal Complex - Drop off any brand of plastic markers, dry erase markers and highlighters to eliminate tons of spent markers ending up in landfills.
  • Lions Club Eyeglass Collection* Municipal Complex - All glasses will be donated to lower income communities around the world.
  • Medication Takeback Municipal Complex - Only pills will be accepted. Remove from packaging and place in paper or plastic bags.
  • Spring Cleaning Drop Off* Public Works on Donald Drive - Volunteers will assist in unloading vehicles. Please be sure to review the restricted items that are not accepted before the event.
  • Used Book Drive* Municipal Complex - Gently used books for donation to non-profit organizations. No encyclopedias accepted.
  • Free Mulch Pick Up* Public Works on Donald Drive - Please bring your own containers.
*Above programs are for Huntley residents only - IDs will be checked.

Due to the popularity of this free event, please expect long lines. All traffic to the Municipal Complex must enter Main Street from Haligus Road, for a more expeditious traffic flow. Except for event traffic, Main Street will be closed from Haligus to Ruth Road.

Everyone is invited to join us for these fun activities:

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Tours - West Main Street at Kreutzer Road, 9 am - 1 pm. Tours take approximately 1 hour and the last tour begins at noon.
  • Culver’s Kids Arbor Day Coloring Contest - Pick up a coloring sheet at Culver’s, Huntley Village Hall, Huntley Library or Huntley Park District between April 1 - 25 and bring your best coloring work back to Culver’s of Huntley by April 25 to get a free scoop of frozen custard! Participants will have their name entered to win a free tree.
