Illinois State Senate District 32 issued the following announcement on July 8.
4.5 million American lives are saved each year by blood transfusions. That’s the simplest and most important reason to donate, according to State Sen. Craig Wilcox.
“There is no substitute for blood, so being a blood donor is critical to the health of our fellow citizens,” said Wilcox (R-McHenry). “About one in five people entering a hospital needs blood. Across the country, three gallons of blood are used every minute, and during the summer months, blood supplies typically reach critically low levels. That’s why I am inviting you to be a life-saving blood donor at our Community Blood Drive Thursday, August 20 in Johnsburg.”
