Huntley FPD responds to 112 fires in 2018

Huntley Fire Protection District responded to 663 calls in 2018 - 10.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Huntley included 112 fires - 67 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 32 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,580,352 in fire loss - or about $14,110 per fire.

The department also received 546 false calls, including three malicious calls and 543 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, five fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and 11 were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Huntley Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $10,791,281 in 2018.

The Huntley FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 57 active employees and 10 retired or inactive employees, was $1,578,771 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $16,110 for every fire in 2017.
