Cary FPD responds to 25 fires in 2018

Cary Fire Protection District responded to 175 calls in 2018 - 2.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Cary included 25 fires - 14 structure fires, two vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $124,700 in fire loss - or about $4,988 per fire.

The department also received 149 false calls, including five malicious calls and 144 other false calls.

The Cary Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $3,955,419 in 2018.

The Cary FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has six active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $181,433 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,336 for every fire in 2017.
