McHenry County issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.

In response to the resurgence in COVID-19 cases, the McHenry County Department of Planning and Development is reinstating precautionary measures to limit the risk of exposure while continuing to provide essential services. Effective immediately, all staff will be working rotating shifts in the office and from home. Staff who are working from home are available for video meetings and will be responding to phone messages and emails.

The department is requesting that property owners and contractors call ahead before visiting the office, as many inquiries can be answered by phone or email. Most permit applications can be submitted online using the application forms located on the Department’s applications and checklists webpage at https://www.mchenrycountyil.gov/county-government/departments-j-z/planning-development/applications-checklists.

Applications can also be printed and left in the drop box in the lobby of the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock. Persons preferring to submit their application in person are encouraged to call the Department at 815-334-4560, extension 1, to schedule an appointment.

“We’re enacting these measures to keep the public and county employees safe from COVID-19,” Planning and Development Director Dennis Sandquist said. “We learned a lot during the spring lockdown. We’ve modified our processes, created new online applications, and adjusted our staffing. Working together with our customers, we are confident that we can continue to provide essential services in a safe and timely manner.”

For more information, contact Planning and Development Director Dennis Sandquist at 815-334-4548 or at DASandquist@mchenrycountyil.gov.
