John Signorile, a 49-year-old resident of Schaumburg, Illinois, has been sentenced to eight and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. This announcement was made by Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, on May 7, 2024. Signorile was convicted of Burglary, a Class 2 Felony.
The conviction came as a result of a negotiated plea before Judge Mark Gerhardt. The sentence is an extended term sentence.
The case dates back to December 30, 2022 when officers from the Crystal Lake Police Department were dispatched to Kohl’s located on Northwest Highway following a burglary alarm. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a shattered front glass window. Inside the store, they found a glass punch near a shattered jewelry display case from which multiple items of jewelry were missing.
In their investigation, officers collected fingerprints, photos and DNA samples from the scene. A thorough canvassing of the surrounding area enabled Crystal Lake Officers to retrieve video surveillance footage from various businesses that helped identify Signorile and his vehicle.
McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally commended the diligence and commitment shown by the Crystal Lake Police Department in addressing community concerns. Their meticulous investigation led to successful prosecution by McHenry County Assistant State's Attorney Tyler Mikan.
