Illinois Senate Republican Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) gave Gov. Pritzker a thumbs down for ignoring his constitutional duty to provide a budget based on revenues that currently exist.
“Instead, he’s counting on $1.5 billion in new revenue through hopeful statutory changes,” McConchie said.
“Last year the governor signed a budget that was made with magic money from Washington, D.C., that never came to fruition and then this year the governor’s proposed budget is built on the backs of blue-collar workers,” he added.
McConchie said Pritzker’s budget plan is $1.7 billion out-of-balance and the governor has no sense of the real world.
“The governor continues to show just how out of touch he is with everyone else. We all have to balance our own budgets, but the governor is failing to do that,” McConchie said. “He has no real concept of what it means to live within a real budget and make real choices based on real money and totally rework the budget, and embrace the reforms that are required right now to put ourselves on a sustainable track going forward.”
