WOODSTOCK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY: United Way Executive Director Retirement Announcement

Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on Mar 18.

After four years leading the organization, United Way of Greater McHenry County CEO and President Carole Peters has announced she plans to retire in July 2021. “Carole has created a dynamic team and has been a visionary, leading with compassion and integrity since joining United Way. She has earned the respect of our community leaders, partner agencies and residents, engaging them and bringing them together in county-wide effort of helping our citizens,” said United Way of Greater McHenry County Board Chairman Steve Finzel. “She will be greatly missed!”

Under her tenure, Peters has led the community in campaigns that generated more than $6.7 million in the last few years, raised additional money for the McHenry County COVID-19 Response Fund, was honored by Shaw Media as a Woman of Distinction in 2018, and most recently was elected United Way of Illinois Board Chair for 2020-2021.

“What a joy it has been to serve our McHenry County community. I have been blessed to meet so many amazing community leaders, supporters, volunteers and nonprofit agency directors and teams who truly care about giving back and serving our great county,” said Peters. “I am looking forward to retiring alongside my husband and making new memories in this next chapter of life.”

“We are grateful for her years of service, and her dedication and leadership to the United Way,” Finzel said. United Way has begun a search for Peter’s replacement.
