Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 22
On Thursday, October 14, 2021, the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the Millie's Playland LLC, 5186 Northwest Hwy., Ste. 130, Crystal Lake.
Millie's Playland is a 7000 square-foot play space for children. Packed with toys and activities that will keep kids entertained for hours, Millie’s Playland is part children's museum and part open play area. The play space boasts themed play areas including child-safe non-powered cars, trucks, planes, and trains they can ride, a simulated submarine with a real salt water fish tank inside, a 30-foot city called "The Village" consisting of 5 handmade wooden houses, a 10-foot princess castle, STEM activities and much more. Millie’s Playland also has a private party room, and a full Indoor Dolby Atmos Theater for rent (120-inch screen) for high-definition movies, gaming, or even presentations.
Named after Millie, the 3-year-old daughter of owners, Jon and Alicia Magro, Millie’s Playland is truly the result of a community and family coming together. Millie's favorite animal is a sloth, and her grandma even illustrated the logo. In early 2019, Jon was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer and was about to enter the fight of his life. After fighting and nearly dying from the disease which included radiation and chemotherapy treatments, Jon was given a clean bill of health in September of 2019. Their family remains grateful to all who supported them during this difficult time.
“We wanted to create a special place for our daughter and the community that showed so much love and support to us,” says Jon, “After all, there is nothing better than creating a place that can generate so many great experiences for kids.” A portion of the profits for Millie’s Playland are donated to head and neck cancer research.
