City of Harvard Administration Committee met April 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Finance Committee meeting was called to order 7:00 P.M. Committee members present: Committee members present: Chairwoman Lisa Haderlein, Aldermen Dan Carncross, Charlie Gorman, and Matt Perkins. Also present were Mayor Michael Kelly, Treasurer/Asst. Administrator Deb Bejot, and City Administrator Dave Nelson.

Public Comment

None

Review of Communications, Public Relations, and Rules Review

Alderman Gorman presented the attached power point presentation concerning citizen engagement. This presentation is part of the strategic plan and the information presented has not been reviewed in a while. Alderman Gorman went thorough each bullet point and the committee discussed the merits of the ideas presented. There is still work to be done in terms of citizen engagement and there was a consensus of the committee to continue with this review and possible seek some expert citizens that may be of help. Alderman Gorman will try to solicit help from some citizens and will work with the staff to gain access to the city website. This item will be on the agenda for next month’s meeting.

Closed Session to Discuss Section 2(c)(1) Personnel

The Committee convened into closed session to discuss personnel. 7:45

Closed Session Action

The Committee came back into open session at 8:10

Motion made by Alderman Perkins seconded by Alderman Carncross to create the position of Finance Director and to appoint Deb Bejot as the Finance Director with an annual salary of $95,000. All ayes Motion Passed.

New Business

The next regular meeting was called for May 11, 2022 6:30 p.m. with two agenda items; review the sign ordinance, and continued review of Communications, Public Relations, and Rules Review.

Motion made by Alderman Perkins seconded by Alderman Gorman to adjourn. All ayes motion passed Meeting adjourned at 08:25 pm
