State Sen. Don DeWitte (R-West Dundee) recently took to Facebook to talk about last week’s swearing-in ceremony, and assure his constituents that he remains committed to fight for them.

“This year’s Senate Inauguration was held at the Old State Capital in Springfield,” DeWitte posted on Facebook. “It was almost surreal to be sitting where Abraham Lincoln made his famous 'a House Divided will never stand,' speech, hauntingly ironic given today's political climate. Nonetheless, I remain absolutely committed, and will continue to fight for all of my constituents in the 33rd Senate District. I still pinch myself some days having the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful buildings in the state of Illinois.” 

DeWitte issued an official statement on his legislative website on Jan. 12.

“I am honored to continue serving the needs of those living in the 33rd District," he said. "I intend to carry forward the excellent services my office provides, and I look forward to meeting those who will become new constituents in the new map.”

“Even though I did not face an opponent in the 2022 election, I am no less grateful to begin this new four-year term than I was when I was sworn into office four years ago after a contentious race,” he continued. “I feel I have made great strides since taking office in September of 2018, but there is much more work to be done to make our state a place Illinoisans are proud to call home. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and reach across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions to our state’s most pressing problems.” 

His district office and contact information will remain the same, though his district has changed slightly. DeWitte’s district office is in West Dundee, at 641 S. Eighth St. The district office phone number is 847-214-8245. 

DeWitte was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2018. A Republican, his legislative experience includes serving on the Appropriations Committee, and Committee of the Whole. DeWitte resides in St. Charles.

DeWitte ran an uncontested race in the November 2022 General Election.
