City of Woodstock Board of Police Commissioners met June 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners of the City of Woodstock was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Giordano on Monday, June 19, 2023 in the Woodstock Police Department Community Room. A roll call was taken by Rebecca Cox. Minutes were taken by Rebecca Cox.

Others Present: None

Commissioner Troc made a Motion to approve the minutes of the March 6, 2023 Regular Meeting; second by Chairman Giordano. Motion approved.

Department Update 

A. BOPC Police Recruit Testing/Hiring

New Officer testing for 2023 is progressing. 28 applications have been sold, 14 fully completed. Application acceptance closes June 28, 2023.

Written test will be administered in the Woodstock Police Department Training Room on July 15, 2023 at 8:30 am by C.O.P.S. BOPC will interview successful candidates July 22, 2023. POWER card testing is not offered on site this year. Applicants will need to show completion of POWER card if a conditional letter of hire is offered. Hired officer will attend PTI starting September 2023.

Sgt. Rapacz set up and staffed a recruitment table at five events. Events were held at McHenry County College, Elgin Community College, Western University, College of Lake County and Harper Community College.

B. Pre-Certified Officer Hiring Program

No updates since focus is on New Officer Testing.

C. Field Training Status Update on Probationary Officers

Jarod Baker has finished Field Training and is now on solo patrol as of June 7, 2023.

Eddie Harrell has entered Phase II of Field Training.

Laterals

Levy: As of May 29, 2023, off of probation and has moved to FT officer status

Frederick: On probation until July 4, 2023, then will be moved to FT officer status.

Zero: On probation until August 2, 2023, then will be moved to FT officer status.

D. Update on Organizational/Personnel Issues and Change(s)

Sam Gustafson has moved into the open Detective’s position as of June 5, 2023.

6 Officers, 1 Sgt and 1 DC have been identified for our new Drone program and will begin training for outdoor and indoor drones.

1 written discipline for a minor car accident.

Chairman is available for Ceremonial Swearing in for Jarod Baker on July 18, 2023 at the City Council meeting.

Motion by Chairman Giordano second by Commissioner Troc, to adjourn the meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners. Motion approved. Meeting adjourned at 5:21 p.m. on June 19, 2023 in the Police Department Training Room.
