Village of Fox River Grove Parks Commission met Sept. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Barnett called the meeting of the Parks Commission to order at 6:31 p.m.

1. ROLL CALL

Present: Chairperson Seana Barnett, Members Kelly Nemec and Elizabeth Hanahan. Member James Brouder joined the meeting at 6:33 p.m. Other attendees: Operations Manager John Reese, and Village Clerk Shelley Caesar

2. RESIDENT COMMENTS

None.

3. APPROVAL OF THE JUNE 7, 2023 MINUTES

A MOTION was made by Chairperson Barnett to approve the July 5th, 2023 meeting minutes, seconded by member Brouder. Motion passed unanimously.

4. Parks

A. PUBLIC WORKS MONTHLY REPORT

Operations Manager Reese presented the Public Works Monthly Report for June and July 2023. Highlights include:

➤ Set up and cleaned up for Parks Fundraiser.

➤ Replaced outlet covers vandalized at Lions Park (third time).

➤ Removed new graffiti at all parks.

➤ Began preparation and set-up for Fireworks event.

➤ New LED lights at both commuter parking lots.

➤ Installed two (2) new digital M.P.H. signs on Lexington & Algonquin Roads.

➤ New coffee vendor at Metra Station, responsible for cleaning and maintenance.

➤ Set up and cleaned up for Arts & Crafts event.

➤ Completed sealing & striping at Lions, Hunters Farm & Foxmoor Park.

B. Picnic Grove Park Entrance sign

➤ Member Brouder will start working on a design concept for the new entrance sign.

➤ Sign should incorporate park rules.

➤ Discussion on whether two signs, separating out the park rules would be more effective.

➤ Discussed the new park rules, the purpose of the new gate installed at Picnic Grove Park, and parking concerns on Birch.

C. Parks Committee wish list for 2024-25 budget

➤ Operations Manager Reese distributed a Parks Projects prioritization list to everyone on the commission.

➤ Each member needs to review, pick and prioritize their top five or ten projects.

➤ Lists are due back to John Reese by the October 4, 2023 Parks meeting.

➤ John will present the finalized list to the Village Board for projects to be considered in the FY24/25 Budget.

5. OTHER BUSINESS

A. Kayak rack has been installed at Lions Park. Discussed rack management ideas.

B. Signage to be placed stating "Village not liable for damage, theft or use of the Kayak rack".

C. Fox Chase 5-K run is October 1, 2023 at Algonquin Road School.

D. Cary-Grove Homecoming parade is Saturday October 7, 2023.

E. Movies in the Park discussion will be added to next meeting agenda when more members are present.

F. Member Nemec stated she has been asked to see if the Parks would consider hosting a small park event on Venetian night.

Member Brouder made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by member Nemec. All were in favor. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
