Floyd T. Cannon has been sentenced to six years in the Department of Corrections for burglary charges related to an incident on October 10, 2016. On that date, officers from the Crystal Lake Police Department were dispatched to an address on Commercial Road in Crystal Lake, Illinois. At the scene, officers discovered that several storage lockers had been broken into and various power tools stolen.

The investigation revealed a similar burglary had occurred in Carpentersville, Illinois. Surveillance footage from the Carpentersville burglary showed a vehicle registered to Floyd Cannon being used in the crime. Further evidence indicated that Cannon had attempted to pawn power tools matching the description of the stolen items.

McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally acknowledged the efforts of both the Crystal Lake Police Department and the Carpentersville Police Department. The cases were prosecuted by Assistant State's Attorney Justin T. Neubauer.
