The McHenry County Treasurer's Office and the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office have identified a tax scam targeting real estate owners with outstanding taxes. According to officials, fraudulent letters purporting to be from McHenry County are being sent to these individuals.
The deceptive letters bear the name "Tax Registry LLC" in small print at the bottom, but they lack a physical address and only provide phone numbers. Authorities urge recipients not to respond to this mailing or contact the company regarding their real estate taxes.
