Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announced that 30-year-old Allen Nguyen, formerly of Huntley, Illinois, was sentenced to a combined 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for child pornography offenses. The sentencing followed a negotiated plea before the Honorable Mark Gerhardt on July 5, 2024.
On June 20, 2023, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip related to the exchange of videos containing child pornography via Snapchat. The Huntley Police Department executed a search warrant for the associated IP address, leading to Nguyen’s residence. Multiple electronic devices were found containing thousands of videos and images of child pornography.
Nguyen pleaded guilty to distributing one video depicting a child under the age of 13 engaged in sex acts with an adult via Snapchat on May 24, 2023. He was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for this offense. Additionally, Nguyen pleaded guilty to possessing one video of a child under the age of 18 engaged in sex acts with an adult and received a six-year sentence. The sentences are to be served consecutively and Nguyen is entitled to day-for-day credit.
Nguyen will be required to register as a sex offender for life. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret O’Brien and investigated by the Huntley Police Department.
