Dylan Wetzel-Connor, a 26-year-old man from McHenry, Illinois, was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 11, 2024. Wetzel-Connor pled guilty to Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, a Class 1 felony, and Aggravated Battery, a Class 2 felony. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Judge Mark Gerhardt.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force received a tip about Wetzel-Connor actively using and selling cocaine. Surveillance was conducted, and a search warrant was obtained for the residence where Wetzel-Connor was seen. The execution of the search warrant revealed materials associated with cocaine and methamphetamine use and distribution. This included a scale, packaging materials, several grams of packaged cocaine prepared in a manner indicative of sale and distribution.

While attempting to take him into custody and effectuate arrest, Wetzel-Connor committed an act of Aggravated Battery against an arresting officer. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally recognized the diligence and thorough investigative work of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Task Force. "Their exceptional work led to a successful prosecution," he said, also thanking McHenry County Assistant State's Attorney Fara Momen.
