Daniel T. Hawkins, a 32-year-old resident of McHenry, was sentenced to 3.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 23, 2024. Hawkins pled guilty to the charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, classified as a Class 2 felony. The sentencing was carried out by the Honorable Judge Mark Gerhardt.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force had received multiple tips about a residence suspected of being involved in the use and sale of illicit substances. Surveillance was conducted on the location, during which Hawkins, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, was observed leaving the premises. Upon being pulled over, drugs were discovered in his vehicle leading to his subsequent arrest and charges.

McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally emphasized the seriousness with which his office regards the sale and distribution of illegal drugs. He commended the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Task Force for their diligence, resulting in another successful prosecution led by Assistant State's Attorney Fara Momen.
