State Senator Craig Wilcox | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Craig Wilcox has been recognized as a "Friend of Agriculture" by the Illinois Farm Bureau for his advocacy efforts on behalf of farmers in Springfield. The award was presented to Wilcox at Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, with McHenry County Farm Bureau Manager Dan Volkers and Lake County Farm Bureau Director Andy Yarc in attendance.
Wilcox expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “It is an incredible honor to receive this award from leaders from the McHenry and Lake County agricultural community, and very fitting that this award was received at the Richardson Farm, one of northern Illinois’ most famous farms- known for its corn maze and Christmas trees.” He emphasized the importance of supporting agriculture in Illinois and committed to aiding farmers in improving food production practices.
The criteria for the award included each legislator's support of farming during the 103rd General Assembly. The recognition highlights those who understand the significance of Illinois' agricultural products and acknowledge farmers' roles in providing essential resources like food, fiber, and fuel.
Wilcox noted the agricultural richness of his district: “The 32nd Senate District is home to hundreds of farms that feature some of the most fertile soil in the nation. As a key part of my constituency, it is my pleasure to advocate for them in policy discussions at the Capitol.”
Both Lake and McHenry County Farm Bureaus have long histories, with their establishments dating back to 1914 and 1916 respectively.
