State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) and State Representative Steve Reick (R-Woodstock) will co-host a free document shredding event and food drive on Saturday, August 16. The event is scheduled from 9:00 AM to noon at Representative Reick’s legislative office, located at 1072 Lake Avenue in Woodstock. The shred truck will remain onsite until noon or until it reaches capacity.
The event allows local residents to dispose of old bank records, receipts, and other sensitive documents securely. Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles and follow posted traffic signs as staff unloads materials for shredding. Parking will be available for those who want to watch their documents being shredded. Items such as paper folders, staples, and paper clips can be processed by the shredder; however, large binder clips, plastic file folders, and floppy disks cannot be accepted. Electronics are also not permitted for recycling or disposal during the event.
In addition to document shredding, non-perishable food items will be collected for local food pantries.
“As people are gathering their sensitive documents for free, safe and secure destruction, I hope they will look through their kitchen pantry and grab a few nonperishable items to donate,” said Wilcox. “It’s a pleasure to offer this free service for the shared constituencies we serve and to help replenish supplies at a few local food pantries.”
Senator Wilcox has represented Illinois’ 32nd Senate District since his election in 2018 after succeeding Pamela Althoff (https://www.ilga.gov/senate/Senator.asp?GA=103&MemberID=3220).
