Algonquin Historic Commission considers updating Village Hall, library display cases

Alg logo

The Algonquin Historic Commission (AHC) met recently to discuss several items including exhibits being displayed in Village Hall and at the library.

AHC members considered removing the advertising items on display in Village Hall and replacing them with a display of postcards.

They also brought up the idea of putting something new in the display case at the library, which is currently displaying a maps exhibit.

One idea discussed was setting up a wooden toys exhibit in one of the display cases, which would be connected to the holiday season.

Several other exhibit ideas were discussed, but most involved keeping the subject matter local. The topics included police and fire memorabilia, local school memorabilia and baseball memorabilia.

A suggestion to create an exhibit focusing on items made locally in Algonquin, such as beer bottles and princess baskets, was also discussed.
