The village of Lake in the Hills said Wednesday its is challenging residents to a holiday lights decorating contest.
The village will hand out awards for Best Overall Display, the Clark Griswold Award and the Best Rookie Award (for first-time entrants).
Contestants can enter their house in the competition, or residents can nominate a neighbor, by calling 847-960-7460.
The lights will be judged the evening of Dec. 17 by Lake in the Hills residents touring the town's holiday displays by bus. The bus leaves at 6 p.m. Reserving a spot in advance is required. Hot chocolate will be provided.
