Spring Grove trustees to hear public works report as village prepares for winter

Snowplow

The Spring Grove Public Works Department is scheduled to present its end-of-the-year update at the Village Board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Public Works Supervisor Matt Wittum sent Village President Mark Eisenberg a memorandum on the updates last week, which most likely will include many items to be discussed Tuesday night.

The memorandum said final mowing was done in all the parks, and trash cans and picnic tables were collected and/or stored for the off season. Playground equipment at Springdale Park was removed for the tower project, and tree-light decorating was begun at Horse Fair Park.

The department also began several projects to prepare for the winter. Gravel work in several areas around town was completed. Guard rail, which measures 140 feet, was installed on the south side of Sunset Road, which is on the hill nearing Route 12. Snowplow routes were also determined, as the village already has seen 14 inches of snow.

Winter equipment was installed and tested on village vehicles. Truck 21 also received an anti-ice system. During inspection several issues were encountered, but were fixed.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers at 7401 Meyer Road.
