The Village of Cary discussed tax abatement at its December meeting.

The Village of Cary discussed tax abatement at its December meeting.

The Cary Village Board discussed a set of ordinances that would abate real estate taxes in certain areas during its Dec. 1 meeting.

In the consent agenda, there were three ordinances that would facilitate tax abatement in relation to special service areas and approve a special tax roll for the affected areas. Two of these were for special service areas located in Cambria and Foxford Hills. The third ordinance would abate real estate taxes meant to pay debt services in relation to the Build America Recovery Zone.

Consent agenda items five through seven were split off from the ordinances to be voted on separately. The consent items associated with real estate taxes were approved.

After further discussion, the separated ordinances were also approved. These facilitated conditional use relating to a garage installment at a property located on Franke Ave. and activity relating to a church on Spring St. The final item within this set would allow the mayor to implement the McHenry County Gang Task Force Intergovernmental Agreement.

After the conclusion of normal affairs, the meeting was brought into an executive session to discuss matters associated with real estate purchases and matters associated with village board personnel.

The minutes for the Nov. 17 meeting were also reviewed and approved -- but with a change in wording.
