Lake in the Hills trustees to consider water meter purchases

The Lake in the Hills Village Board will be discussing the purchase of water meters at its committee-of-the-whole meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Village Hall.

Public Works Director Fred Mullard is recommending the village waive the requirement for competitive bidding for the purchase of water meters and associated equipment and that the village continue working with Water Resources Inc. The executive summary states Water Resources is a singular supplier of the branded water meters currently used by the village. It also notes that the prices for 2016 and 2015 models have remained unchanged.

Mullard said the anticipated cost for necessary replacements and replacement parts would be approximately $31,715, which is listed as the budgeted amount for this area. Mullard also attached an email that he received from the company that said Water Resources is committed to supplying the necessary equipment for that price.

At Tuesday's meeting, the Public Works Department also will be presenting information regarding agreements and contracts with Ryco Landscaping and Baxter & Woodman Inc. in relation to grounds maintenance and engineering services respectively.
