The Village of Cary Board of Trustees voted to approve the first set of solar panels on a residence within village limits at its Jan. 5 meeting.
The ordinance presentation was issued by Director of Community Development Brian Simmons. The project would entail the installation of solar panels on the roof of the building located at 417 High Road. Trustee Jeffery Krause also expressed support for renewable energy and praised the resident’s effort in pursuing this venture.
The Board of Zoning, Planning and Appeals voted in a unanimous matter to approve the measure prior to it reaching the board of trustees. The motion was carried and the approval was granted with all trustees in favor.
This ordinance was originally part of the meeting’s consent agenda but was held over for further discussion prior to its approval. The board approved the consent agenda, which consisted of a total of five measures not including the solar panel request. Included in this was the review and approval of meeting minutes from Dec. 15, a declaration that stated that certain items were to be considered surplus property, a contract extension for emergency contractor assistance and a warrant that was dated for Jan. 5.
