The City of Crystal Lake recently filed an ordinance to approve the special use permit amendment that was requested by the Crystal Pines Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
This request was made to implement a new parking area. As part of the request, several variances were needed regarding requirements to have a landscape area of eight feet minimum and relating to required lighting levels for a parking area. The parking area required a variance that would allow maneuverability from nearby public streets in order to be carried out.
This request was discussed in a public hearing session with the Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 6, recommended by the commission and later approved by City Council.
The ordinance details conditions that will be required of the facility. These include working with government staff to address lighting requirements and ensuring that wheel stops are in place on the west side of the parking area. The facility will also be required to review and to take into consideration requirements set by the Public Works, Community Development, Police and Fire Rescue departments.
The finalized ordinance passed on Feb. 2.
