Algonquin intends to discuss its budget at the March 15 public hearing.

The Village of Algonquin announced this week that it is holding a public hearing on a proposed budget for 2016-17 on March 15.

According to the notice, the full budget is available to be viewed at the Ganek Municipal Center during regular business hours. A budget is expected to be passed upon finalization at the board of trustees meeting set for April 5. The budget is subject to be updated after, prior to and following this public hearing, and there will not be additional hearing sessions to address possible revisions made to the budget.

The public hearing is expected to begin at 7:25 p.m. in the Village Board Meeting Room at the Ganek Center.

An April 2015 article from the Northwest Herald indicates that the budget amounted to approximately $39 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year, which included vehicle purchases and park projects.

The Algonquin website reported that the budget in place was recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada.

According to the announcement, this hearing will be presided over by the village’s corporate authorities.
